About the project

Mining is essential for products like electronics and medical devices but requires millions of gallons of freshwater daily, with California using 200-640 million gallons per day. The future of mining may depend on freshwater availability due to its environmental risks, including groundwater contamination.

Toxic Beauty attempts to capture the striking yet hazardous beauty of active, reclaimed, and abandoned mines, highlighting the toxic agents often hidden within their alluring aesthetics.
