About the project
The Carrie Blast Furnace in Pittsburgh are a striking reminder of the city’s industrial past and its transformation over time. After ceasing operations in 1982, the furnaces were preserved to honor their historical significance.
Now part of the Rivers of Steel National Heritage Area, the site offers visitors a glimpse into the steelmaking process and the lives of the workers who powered it.
These photographs depict my visit to the Carrie Blast Furnace, a place where history, innovation, and artistry come together to tell the story of Pittsburgh’s resilience and transformation.
