About the project

This photographic series explores how water shapes urban expansion and decay in Southern California, focusing on Palm Springs and Salton City.

Palm Springs thrives on its 100 golf courses, attracting millions and relying on an aquifer and the Colorado River for water. In contrast, Salton City suffers from pollution and dwindling resources.

As California’s population grows, the looming threat of water scarcity raises questions about sustainability and the future of these cities. Can alternative water sources truly replace what’s fading away?
